Shannon Frady grew up in New York City, where he attended the Browning School (whose first student was John D. Rockefeller) and interned and assisted at Magnum Photos, working under VIETNAM INC. author Philip Jones Griffiths. After a hiatus from initial study at Syracuse University, he conceptualized Interactive Reality Entertainment (IRE) in its basic transmedia format in 1999, after shooting his first film co-directed by Actor’s Studio veteran instructor Ernie Martin (whose students have included Gene Hackman, Sean Penn, Harvey Keitel, Nastassja Kinski, and others). He also lived in Beijing for seven years before returning to the U.S. in 2008, joined the U.S. Army, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. He currently works in advertising as a photographer and producer, while running executions of Recorded Experience Design (RED) and Interactive Reality Entertainment (IRE).
